Materials, tools and lockers
Check-in, check-out, restock and traceability by site; lockers for handover and return. Real SAB operational automation; AI is a complementary layer.
What it is
Materials, tools and locker control logs check-in, check-out, restock and traceability by site, and can use lockers for handover and return with physical confirmation of opening. It is real SAB operational automation —the lockers and access are in production—; AI is a complementary layer, not the core.
Who it's for
Site managers, warehouse and procurement who don't know where each expensive tool is, how much material each site consumes or who took what.
The problem
Tools vanish between sites, material gets over- or under-ordered and there is no record of who took what. Losses are invisible until inventory is done, too late.
How it works
The process, step by step.
- 01
Material or tool
What is controlled is registered, with its reference, its site and, if applicable, its locker.
- 02
Authorised check-out
Whoever has permission checks it out; who, what, when and for which site is recorded.
- 03
Physical confirmation
If there is a locker, the opening is really confirmed: the record reflects a physical fact, not an intention.
- 04
Return and restock
The return closes the cycle; consumption by site feeds restock and inventory.
What you get
The delivered result.
Traceability by site: who took what, when and where for.
Handover and return by locker with physical confirmation of opening.
Material consumption by site, to order what is needed and spot deviations.
An inventory that reflects recorded facts, not counts from memory.
What it needs
- What you want to control: tools, material or both, and across which sites.
- If you use lockers, where they are installed and who has permission.
- Your references and the unit of each material.
A concrete example
An expensive tool lives in a locker at the central warehouse. The authorised worker checks it out with their permission; the locker opening is confirmed. On return, the cycle closes. If it does not come back, you know who has it and from which site, without waiting for inventory.
What a person reviews
Check-out permission and orders are given and authorised by people. The opening confirmation is physical and real; the system records the fact, it does not assume it.
Possible integrations
Possibilities subject to assessment until verified.
- · SAB's lockers and access control, already in production.
- · Your inventory or procurement ERP, to avoid duplicating references (subject to assessment).
Limits and conditions
- · Lockers and hardware are a separate line, clearly itemised apart from the software.
- · Traceability depends on check-outs being recorded; the system makes it easy, it does not physically enforce it without a locker.
- · The AI layer (consumption forecasting, alerts) is complementary and optional, not the core of the service.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does this exist already or must it be developed?
The operational part exists and runs: SAB's locker automation and access control are in production, with genuinely confirmed opening. What is adapted is bringing it into the site context —references, sites, permissions— and, if you want, adding an AI layer for consumption forecasting.
Must I buy lockers?
No. Materials and tools control works without lockers; these add physical confirmation of handover and return for the most sensitive or expensive items. If you use them, the hardware is a separate line, never mixed with the software.
What does AI add here?
It is complementary: from the consumption recorded by site it can flag deviations or help forecast restock. It is not the core —the core is traceability and physical confirmation— and we say so to avoid selling smoke.
How do we start?
With one warehouse or site and a set of tools or materials. We set up a pilot with real traceability and, if applicable, a locker, and measure losses and consumption before scaling.
Let's start with one process and one site.
The first engagement is small and demonstrable: one process, concrete data and a measured result. Tell us yours.
