Talk to the totem
What it is
An AI kiosk that serves by voice, with no staff
Scan and Buy's virtual totem is an AI-powered self-service kiosk that serves your customers by voice or touchscreen, 24 hours a day and with no staff. It recognizes natural speech in Spanish and English, answers questions instantly with generative AI and guides processes such as hotel check-in, store guidance or queue management at a bank.
It is customized with your brand identity, includes an accessible interface for visually impaired users and integrates with your current systems via API, all with a cloud management panel. The result: service with no queues, no errors and available all week long.

Where it makes sense
A totem does not remove work: it removes the queue
The distinction matters. If the goal is to let someone go, a totem disappoints: there will always need to be a person for the odd case. Where it does change the business is at the peak, that specific hour when more people arrive than can be served and the experience collapses.
Hotels: the arrivals peak
Half the day's arrivals land between three and six in the afternoon. With one reception desk a queue forms, and the guest who has just come off a seven-hour flight forms their first impression right there. The totem absorbs the check-in of whoever only needs their key and leaves reception for whoever brings a problem. PMS integration to read the booking is built to order against whatever system you use.
Food service: ordering without waiting to be noticed
The bottleneck in a busy venue is not the kitchen, it is the moment someone has to come over and take the order. A totem that takes the order and charges frees staff to serve, which is what genuinely cannot be automated. And average spend rises for an unromantic reason: a screen never forgets to offer dessert.
Public-facing desks: the same five questions
In a town hall, a museum or an office, most of what gets asked at the desk is five repeated things: where is it, what time, what do I need to bring. Having a screen answer those in the asker's own language is not dehumanising: it frees the person at the desk for the queries that genuinely need judgement.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How does the customer interact with the totem?
By voice —it recognizes natural speech— or by touchscreen, with no waiting and no staff required.
Which languages does it support?
Spanish and English by default, with multi-language support to fit your audience.
Which businesses is it for?
Hotel check-in, bank service, supermarket and museum assistance, municipal information and corporate reception, among others.
Can it be customized with my brand?
Yes. It adapts to your visual identity and integrates with your systems via API, with a cloud management panel.
Is it accessible for everyone?
Yes. It includes an accessible interface for visually impaired users and voice control that makes it easier to use.
Does it integrate with my hotel PMS?
It is built to order against whatever system you have, and we prefer to say so rather than give a catalogue «yes». The first thing we ask is which PMS you run and whether it exposes an API: that answer decides whether the totem can read the booking and issue the key, or whether it stops at collecting details. Without knowing, any quote would be made up.
Does it replace my reception staff?
No, and anyone promising that is selling it badly. There will always need to be someone for whatever falls outside the script: a botched booking, an angry guest, an unusual request. What it replaces is the peak-hour queue, absorbing whoever only needs their key or a simple answer. Staff stop repeating the same thing fifty times a day.
What happens if the totem loses connection?
That is the right question and the one almost nobody asks before buying. The screen says so and directs the person to the desk instead of freezing on a spinner, which is the worst thing that can happen in front of a customer. Which functions survive without network is decided when designing the installation, according to what is critical at each site.
How many people actually use it?
It depends almost entirely on where it is placed and on whether someone spends the first week inviting people to try it. A totem hidden in a corner gets used by nobody; one on the natural path to the desk, with a person saying «you can do it here, it is quicker» on day one, gets adopted on its own. It is a siting and hand-holding problem, not a technology one.
